The Mid-Pacific Conference (Mid-Pac) is an annual event that brings students together to compete in various engineering competitions and to network with with other members of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Schools such as Cal Berkeley, Chico State University, Fresno State University, Sacramento State University, San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, UC Davis, and the University of Nevada compete in the Mid-Pacific region to determine who will represent Northern California and Northern Nevada in both the National Steel Bridge Competition and National Concrete Canoe Competition. In 2008, the competittion was stiff. Nevada, Cal Berkeley, San Jose State, and UC Davis all performed exceptionally well at the regional level. Everyone had a great time at the competition, and we thank UC Davis for hosting the event this year. The overall placements of the top three teams in each category are shown below. In addition, we listed the race times of each school. There are also some pictures of our canoe, Argentum. We look forward to seeing all of the canoes at the national competition; good luck and congratulations to all of the teams that qualifies this year!
